DWP Logistics national team headed by Alex Farkas take a look at Express.

LSA chair Carl Lomas delivered the pineapple presentation to DWP regional managers to showcase exploding figures in Express, home delivery, final mile logistics. Retail shift from high street to home delivery was at the heart of the presentation using IMRG figures explaining trends of workforce move as shoppers changed to internet shop.  Lomas talked Trailblazer from level 2 to 6, a job for life in an emerging sector of logistics as shopping trend moves from high street to e-retail internet shopping and home delivery.

 

 

Levy news from Govt in full discussion at Coventry conference hosted by Lindsay McCurdy Oct 27

Lindsay McCurdy put on the levy conference at Coventry days after govt released the first papers on delivery, perfect timescales for a master class in how the HMRC April 2017 levy collections will be delivered by providers for employers, large and small, levy and none levy players all explained. Levy paying employers who spend their pot can then claim 90% subsidy for further training. A full house extravaganza of all things you need for levy, employers and providers getting ready for May 2017 delivery.. Whistl, Tarmac and Stobart amongst the big employer attendees for transport.

BIS Apprenticeship Trailblazer focus for Express Delivery courier in the Oxford Newbury area.

Talking shop with LSA Chair Carl Lomas about BIS recognition for Express Delivery courier apprentice trailblazer, Adrian Smith of Swift Couriers (Oxford &  Newbury) explained: ‘Elite couriers, this is where we need to be.’

Adrian Smith, IOC Fellow and owner of Swift - a strong company-owned van fleet, operating PAYE drivers and providing quality service to the West London corridor around the postcodes of Newbury and Oxford with focus on medical services clients. ‘Every driver goes through a detailed induction, 6 months attendance, 6 months specialisation to make the step to one of our elite couriers.’

This is a great step for our future workforce in express delivery and courier, Justin Moore City Sprint chaired the employer group meetings, outstanding contributions from so many employers, nationals, networks and local SMEs. The standard that will set the future qualification for our sector. It’s a big thank-you all round for everyone who has made this possible. Broad input came in from the LEP teams D2N2, LLEP, SEMLEP, NLEP and more with education advice and support from Universities including Derby, SHU and LMU. This will be a vocational qualification for our front-line teams delivering at the client face.
