A rich sector of logistics ready for next generation youth opportunity.

Alan Milburn review and youth unemployment numbers was the opening headline. Almost a quarter of Ealing’s jobs pay below the London minimum wage. Today the roadmap is here to make change.

Matt Lent, Youth Carers Collective, ‘Lets talk implementation, earning and learning, The launch document today is not the whole, there is a QR code for the detail. The purpose is clear path to help youth thrive across sectors, a shared understanding of both short and long term goals. This is an interactive tool, it's four roadmaps in one, from third sector to sustained experiences cross sector.

No young person in West London should be left behind! In the UK 16.2% of all young people aged 16 to 24 are unemployed, in London and West London the number is 24.6%, approx 135,000 young people out of work. (ONS)

Sian Rebourg spoke as an employer, ‘We need everyone to commit, embrace the road map, help find futures for the unemployed in west London.

Lomas met up with Katrin Lehman from West Thames College to talk apprenticeship opportunities for West London with a strong focus on logistics jobs in the corridor of Heathrow geographic. Katrin focused on transferable skills for young people to be inclusive, qualifications must be supported by problem solving and employability skills. ‘Not to just win employment but to sustain that role into a career.’

A youth panel took the stage to speak experience, challenges – a lens of parents aspiring to doctors and dentists at University missing the opportunity of apprenticeship routes to employment. The panel spoke benefit of jobs via apprenticeships.
