RTITB Counterbalance Truck Training in West London

The Logistics Skills & Careers Hub at Feltham is delivering the RTITB Level 2 Counterbalance Truck Training course with a series of start dates across the 2026 year to provide flexibility for learners and employers. The latest programme is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to operate a counterbalance forklift truck safely and efficiently. Accredited by the Road Transport Industry Training Board (RTITB), the qualification is recognised nationally and is valued by employers in the logistics, warehousing, and supply chain industries.

The course is open to both new operators and those who already have experience but require refresher training. The novice pathway includes comprehensive instruction covering machine controls, safe driving practices, pre-use inspections, load handling, and awareness of workplace hazards. The refresher route is a shorter option designed to update the skills of experienced drivers in line with current safety standards and operational best practices. Training is delivered at the College’s Logistics Skills & Careers Hub, where learners gain practical, hands-on experience in a controlled environment. Assessment is carried out through a combination of practical tests and the completion of a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competency.

On successful completion, participants achieve the RTITB Level 2 qualification, which supports direct progression into employment opportunities within logistics, transport, warehousing, and storage. It also provides a pathway to further specialist training, such as reach truck operation. Employers benefit from having operators trained to nationally recognised standards, ensuring greater workplace safety and efficiency.

The availability of multiple start dates ensures that learners and employers can choose an intake that best suits their schedules, reducing waiting times and enabling quicker entry into employment or upskilling opportunities. Further information on course content, entry requirements, fees, and progression routes is available through the West Thames College website.
