This initiative comes at a particularly important time for West London. The 2026 West London Annex to the London Local Skills Improvement Plan identifies Transport and Logistics as a priority sector, accounting for approximately 10% of local employment. With Heathrow and other major economic assets at the heart of the sub-region, the Annex highlights the continuing demand for skilled people across logistics, transport, warehousing, distribution, vehicle maintenance and related occupations.
The employer ask in education
Support licence acquisition for the van drivers delivering at door.
Help with employer focused behaviour unit delivery with shift in apprenticeship focus tp work place.
The West London transport headines,
Orbital rail connectivity in Mayor’s transport strategy
Heathrow 3rd runway backed by Government and Parliament
Supporting the expansion of Cycleways, including route 9
The Transport + Logistics Skills Hub will provide a platform to translate these priorities into practical action, working in partnership with employers and education providers to develop clearer pathways into careers, equip local residents with in-demand skills and strengthen the talent pipeline needed to support the sector's future growth.
The event provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the initiative and contribute to discussions on how we can work together to strengthen skills development and employment opportunities across the transport and logistics sector in West London.
