A ten-brand logistics convoy of zero-emission vehicles with 100 walkers to make a secret delivery to the Lady Mayoress, Insurer, Dame Susan Langley

A delivery in the Square Mile of the City under umbrellas in the dry autumn sunshine with Gog and Magog.

Logistics sector on the ceremonial streets of the City Square Mile to showcase zero emission and diversity to the world with a final mile delivery by a giant owl in salute of bagpipes for a pageant never to be forgotten.

Pageant Master of the Lady Mayor's Show Dominic Read OBE assigned the Express Couriers entry number position at serial number forty for a magical front third slot to showcase our sector.

100 final mile walkers in a ten-brand kaleidoscope of colour showcasing ten zero-emission L-cat micro delivery vehicles. Ambassadors for our sector. Two, three and four-wheel final mile zero emission.

Themed character to the entry brought carnival feel to the pageant - a final mile delivery to the new Lady Mayor at Mansion House. Representing knowledge learning and delivery in the form of the apprenticeships in transport a giant blue owl. There was an owl glove puppet for each VIP of the brand walkers, standing in an arc at Mansion House to deliver Lady Mayor-Elect Dame Susan Langley her very own LSA owl puppet at the Mansion House balcony. Bagpipes of the National Courier Awards playing loud, Jen the Roo stilt walker standing tall above the brands handed over the final mile delivery for our sector.

Express delivery sector delivered. The final mile completed. LSA members stood in front of Mansion House to final mile, hand deliver a ceremonial owl puppet glove to the Lady Mayor. She would shortly use the hand puppet owl glove in the Golden Carriage.

Brand walkers had a life memory, representing our same day, final mile sector in an event covered by the BBC for a whole ninety minutes.

LSA chair, Carl Lomas caught up in June with Pageant Master Dominic Reid for a briefing. ‘This is the longest-running TV in the history of broadcasting!’

TV crews lined the roadside, the convoy of ten zero-emission delivery vehicles, each supported with ten walkers in their brand colours and all under the cover of a themed umbrella was a life memory with 90 mins of BBC coverage and a crowd of hundreds of thousands in the Square Mile of the City of London to recognise the Lady Mayor-elect, Dame Susan Langley, DBE - Alderwoman and insurance guru as she is elected as the third-ever Mayoress of the City.

Ten brands, including Santis, Evri, Royal Mail, DPD, TVS SCS, CitySprint, Absolutely, FedEx, GLH, Whistl and Smiths News.

‘The purpose of the Pageant is for the City Mayor to swear an oath to the King, a year has never been missed since the Magna Carta and was continued by the Lord Mayor in person during COVID.

Theme for 2025 focused on women and diversity, supported by the new Lady Mayor. The VIP group headed by West Thames College boss Marta Gajewska walked proud with diversity. VIPS for transport logistics included Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell, new Police head of Business Crime, Superintendent Lisa Maslen, Prof Stacey Clemes , NHS Truck health guru Bernie, West London Chamber head Sally Smith amongst the VIPs

The pageant is the longest-running TV broadcast, as it was first aired in 1937. The parade is timed by the military bands at 116 beats a minute on the metronome. Down Princess Street and the Bank of England.

Final mile owl delivery, brand VIPs will help deliver the special knowledge owl in front of the cameras.

Flying tall Inst of Couriers banner flags adorned every low emission final mile delivery vehicle. Umbrellas for all walkers tied in a graphic theme to the Lady Mayor.

It was a kaleidoscope of pageantry and a showcase of sector low emission and individual diversity rich in women in Express for the new Lady Mayor with a lens on next generation and our future sector apprenticeships delivered by the knowledge owl.
