The Carmen Livery and Awards night Transport Banquet filled Mansion House with a UK-wide transport showcase - multi-modal; road, rail air and sea.

Sec of State Chris Grayling spoke of ‘Transport makes a difference to our country.

Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Charles Bowman was in attendance to greet guests with the Master Carmen.

The Lord Mayor focused on walking as the key mode to cross the streets of the City of London. He spoke on the impact of Cross Rail, the culture mile it would generate and the new location for the Museum of London for its focus.

A host of express folk including LSA chairman Carl Lomas were at the table to talk next generation logistics, trailblazer qualifications, levy and apprenticeships.

Congestion, clean air and next generation workforce are the next step. Clipper boss Tony Mannix and Kate Lester Diamond Logistics attended.

Sam Clarke, Gnewt spoke clean air final mile as chair of the IOC electric vehicle group. Colonel Andy Moffatt was on hand as boss of British forces post office to announce hosting the panel of judges for the 2018 National Courier Awards.

Three months and two peaks into 2018, Logistics Skills Alliance folk talked numbers and client choice in the delivery chain of express, fresh from Mother's Day Sunday deliveries.

Sec of State for Transport spoke passionately about the transport sector, smiling and opening with  ‘I am a little bit of a transport geek.’ Sec of State spoke historic transport milestones in the UK, ‘First jet engine, Jaguar, Mini and Land Rover. Canals transformed transport in our country and I am an avid rail user’. Moving to future ‘Driverless cars will transform lives and we will seem them in the next four years, motoring will never be the same again.

John Ratcliffe took the lifetime achievement award, famous for the tail-lifts on almost every truck we see today.
